(Washington, D.C., 10/10/2025) – The US Council of Muslim Organizations, America’s umbrella group of Muslim associations, today welcomed the adoption of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement brokered by President Trump. USCMO also called on the President and Muslim nations involved in the negotiations to ensure that the Israeli apartheid government does not resume the genocide, that Gaza is rebuilt without displacement, occupation or western control, and that a just, lasting peace is established by securing freedom, justice, and self-determination for the Palestinian people.
USCMO Secretary General Oussama Jammal said in a statement:
“USCMO welcomes the adoption of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement brokered by President Trump that would, if upheld, permanently end the genocide in Gaza after two long years of horrific and unprecedented violence by the Israeli apartheid government.
“We urge President Trump’s decision to ensure that the Netanyahu regime does not sabotage this agreement by resuming the genocide. Ending the genocide is just the first step, not the last, in securing justice for the Palestinian people and charting a just future.
“We call on international tribunals to hold the Israeli government for the genocidal crimes it committed. We call on members of Congress to support an arms embargo on Israel to ensure that it can never commit such crimes again.
“We call on all political leaders to reject the influence of AIPAC and others who supported this genocide. We call on both our nation and Muslim nations involved in the ceasefire negotiations to ensure that Gaza is rebuilt without displacement, occupation or western control, and that a just, lasting peace is established by securing freedom, justice and self-determination for the Palestinian people.
“The American Muslim community expresses our solidarity and love for our brothers and sisters in Gaza, who experienced two years of wholesale Israeli slaughter of children, women, men, the elderly and disabled across their homeland. May God reward you abundantly for your steadfastness, allow you to witness the liberation of Palestine, and reunite you in the highest rank of Paradise with your loved ones.
“We also commend the students, doctors, activists, journalists, political leaders and others who bravely recognized and spoke up against this genocide, sometimes at great risk to yourselves. You are heroes and we pray that God bestows his guidance and protection upon all of you.”
