The Muslim Leadership Council of San Diego continued its tradition of organizing an Eid-Al-Adha Celebration for the entire San Diego Muslim community for the sixth year in a row, this year’s location was also at SDCCU stadium’s practice field. MLC’s Eid Festival 2019 was a perfect example of how persistence and dedication lead to positive outcomes.
Community participation in this year’s festival was about 1,750 attendees, and 18 vendors. At an entry fee of $5, the festival was truly inclusive, and had a cross-section of the community in attendance, with brothers and sisters from every ethnic and racial background. Along with great food there was an amazing array of free activities from pony rides, petting zoo, face painting and inflatable bouncy slides to cotton candy and rock climbing. The festive mood was apparent, making the Eid Festival something many San Diego Muslims will look back on as fond memories.
MLCSD’s vision to unite the Muslim community of San Diego county, is the guiding motivation behind organizing the annual Eid Festival. The Eid Festival is a key component of that vision. As MLC’s Eid Festival keeps getting better every year, the hope is that MLC gets support from the wider community it needs in order to be a truly effective Eid Festival. The MLC organizers are looking forward to attracting larger crows InshaAllah , with a possibility of fireworks show at the end of the event.
May Allah bless the San Diego Muslim community, its organizations, volunteers and leaders, Aameen!
